K&N 57i Performance Kit består af en kasse med de beslag / slanger / koldluft rør etc., der skal bruges til den model bil og motor, som kittet er udviklet til. Dette betyder, at et K&N 57i Performance Kit er afprøvet og testet på rullefelt og på landevej for at opnå bedst mulig effekt uden at miste nogen effekt kontra standard.

Ideen med et K&N 57i Performance kit er, at man fjerner bilens originale luftfilterkasse og monterer K&N 57i Performance Kittet direkte på indsugnings manifolden / spjældhuset. Herved bliver luftvejen set fra motoren nemmere og ofte også kortere. Dette betyder, at motoren nu har nemmere ved at trække vejret og derved får motoren en bedre fyldning og dermed også en højere ydelse. Det åbne luftfilter system betyder også, at motoren ikke er støjdæmpet på indsugningsiden længere, da dette også er en af luftfilterkassens missioner.

Effekt-forøgelsen med et K&N Performance Kit er typisk mellem 5 - 10 HK kontra standard luftfilterkasse. Ved montering af K&N 57i Performance Kit skal man være opmærksom på, at man får ledet kold luft hen til motorens indsugningssystem, da man ellers kan miste mere effekt end man har vundet ved den kortere / lettere luftvej.

Koldluft system er med til at sikre, at K&N 57i Performance Kittene giver dig de ekstra hestekræfter. Det er ikke unormalt at se indsugningsluft temperaturen stiger mellem 20º og 50º, hvis der ikke monteres koldluft system, ved montering af et åbent luftfilter i motorrummet.
Dette kan betyde et effekttab på op til 50% af den opnåede ekstra effekt.

Upgrade .. Du kan evt. upgradere dit K&N 57i Performance Kit med et Powerblanket®. Powerblanket® er lavet af glasfiber klæde med sølvfolie på den ene side. Formålet med det er at afskærme den varme luft fra den kolde luft til motorens indsugning.
